More Chapleau Residents Will Soon Benefit from The Caring Project

The local effort to replace furniture for Chapleau's long-term care residents continues with two more rooms now ready to be refurnished. The Caring Project launched in December 2016 by the Chapleau General Hospital Foundation has a goal of replacing the furniture in all 25 Bignucolo Residence rooms. Nine rooms are now fully funded thanks to United Way, the ATV Raffle, a recent yardsale, and ongoing donations by community members.

Earlier this year, the Hospital Foundation applied to United Way for help with The Caring Project. We were approved for a $3,500 donation, enough to purchase a bed and wardrobe for one resident. We are grateful for this generosity, and thank everyone in Chapleau that participates in United Way fundraising to make this possible.

The Hospital Foundation has also hosted various fundraisers to support The Caring Project. The Father's Day ATV Raffle sold nearly 600 tickets with profits of over $3,000 going directly towards the purchase of new furniture.

Most recently, on July 22nd a yardsale was held with yardsale items donated by Services de santé de Chapleau Health Services employees. Despite the weather many community members showed up, and their combined generosity totaled $884.25 in just a few hours.

Community members continue to donate faithfully and move us closer to the goal. The Foundation is grateful for this ongoing support and is encouraged that nine rooms are now fully paid for, just eight months into the campaign. To donate online click here. The Bignucolo Residence is Chapleau's only long-term care residence. The Caring Project will improve the quality of life for residents by replacing furniture in all twenty-five suites.
