Collins Home Hardware joins Better Ultrasound Effort with Major Donation

Collins Home Hardware making donation

Joshua Collins of Collins Home Hardware presents a cheque for $5,000 to former SSCHS CEO Gail Bignucolo and Foundation Coordinator Stephen Lee. This donation will ultimately improve the quality of each ultrasound given in Chapleau.

The Chapleau General Hospital Foundation formally launched its campaign for a new ultrasound machine in January 2016, and we are pleased to announce Collins Home Hardware has generously stepped up with a major donation. Collins Home Hardware has supported local health care initiatives for over 10 years and has now committed $5,000 towards better ultrasounds for Chapleau.

The new ultrasound machine will provide clearer images, is able to see deeper in the body, and can see smaller details. All this will mean better diagnosis for our community. Through this donation Collins Home Hardware is helping improve diagnostics in Chapleau for years to come.

"Chapleau Hospital performs over 800 ultrasounds a year. Doctors and patients need the best possible ultrasounds to make decisions about diagnosis and treatment. Collins Home Hardware's gift will make each ultrasound more informative by using the industry's latest technology," said Chapleau Hospital former CEO Gail Bignucolo.

This donation, presented by store owner Joshua Collins, brings the total amount given towards the new ultrasound machine to $23,745. The Hospital Foundation has set a goal of having the new $100,000 ultrasound fully paid for by December 2016.
