Christmas Donations Help Bignucolo Residence and Foleyet Nursing Station

Over the holidays, residents of Chapleau and Foleyet gave generously to two local fundraising initiatives. A combined total of $5,712.88 was raised, a new record amount of Christmas giving for the area.

The first initiative, known as The Caring Project, will make life easier for community members living in long-term care by replacing all the furniture throughout the Bignucolo Residence. A total of $4,792.88 has been given towards The Caring Project as of January 11, 2017. This is enough to buy a new bed, mattress, 4-drawer dresser, and a wardrobe for one of the long-term care suites.

"This is a small way to show our friends and family that live in long-term care how much they mean to us. We want them to have the best and will do everything we can to make their stay comfortable, safe and rewarding." said John Branchaud, Chair of the Chapleau General Hospital Foundation.

The second initiative was to replace the vital signs monitor at the Foleyet Nursing Station. Thanks to the generosity of Foleyet residents, nearly one-fourth of the goal was raised with $920 in donations received so far. We will continue to seek funding for this item throughout the year so that the upgrade can be accomplished soon for the benefit of all Foleyet residents.

The Chapleau General Hospital Foundation is grateful to see such a positive response to the health care needs of Chapleau and Foleyet. The Caring Project will also continue throughout 2017 and furniture items will be replaced as soon as possible. The Bignucolo Residence is Chapleau's only long-term care residence. The Caring Project will improve the quality of life for residents by replacing furniture in all twenty-five suites.
