Union Representing Hospital Staff Furnishes Room in Bignucolo Residence

The Caring Project was given another boost recently by CUPE Local 4108, the union that represents hospital registered practical nurses and support staff employees. With a generous donation of $7,100 an entire room in the Bignucolo Residence will be refurnished.

The Caring Project was launched late last year with the goal of replacing all furniture used in the bedrooms of the twenty-five community members living in long-term care. The refurnished rooms will give residents a safe and comfortable place to live with lower beds to reduce falls, reclining chairs, and new wardrobes. The furniture currently in the Residence has seen twenty years or more of wear and tear.

This is the fourth suite to be refurnished by a local donor. Services de santé de Chapleau Health Services employees already give a great deal of time and energy to health care in our community. This extraordinary gift is another example of SSCHS staff going above and beyond the call of duty. We thank everyone who contributed to this gift and have already placed the order for the new furniture.
