Rotary Club Fish Derby Joins The Caring Project

The Caring Project's goal of refurnishing every room in Chapleau's only long-term care facility is now funded for six rooms. Thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Chapleau two entire suites in the Bignucolo Residence will receive new furniture.

These funds raised in the recent 20th Annual Pike Ice Fishing Derby in Chapleau will give local seniors a better quality of life. By donating $14,200 to The Caring Project two Chapleauites living in the Bignucolo Residence will receive a new bed, mattress, wardrobe, dresser, bedside table, and reclining chair.

The Rotary Club's donation will have practical benefits for the community members that live in the Bignucolo Residence. The new beds will be lower to prevent falls, and the matching dresser-wardrobe sets will replace furniture starting to show the decades of wear and tear. The Caring Project was launched in December 2016 by the Chapleau General Hospital Foundation with the goal of replacing the furniture in all twenty-five long-term care suites. With six rooms funded in three short months we are seeing Chapleau's love and care for friends and family in long-term care.
