CP Donates $5,000 Toward New Defibrillator for SSCHS

(Thursday, October 28, 2021, Chapleau, ON) The Chapleau General Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce a $5,000 donation from Canadian Pacific (CP) towards a new Zoll R-Series Monitor Defibrillator - a life-saving piece of equipment for the acute floor and the long-term care (LTC) wing.

The donation was made possible through CP's Community Investment Program, CP Has Heart, which aims to improve the heart health of adults and children in communities across North America.

"CP is proud to donate to the Chapleau General Hospital Foundation and assist them in purchasing a life-saving piece of cardiac equipment," said David Marchioni, CP Trainmaster, Chapleau. "Since 2014 our community investment program, CP Has Heart, has helped raise over $23.3 million for cardiac causes across our network."

The new R-Series Monitor Defibrillator is far superior to the current defibrillator in use in the acute and LTC departments. It has important features like "See-through CPR" and real-time CPR feedback, which improves the quality of chest compressions that a patient receives by giving the staff audible and visual feedback. If a patient is intubated, the technology available on the unit will help staff to monitor the quality of CPR and quality of ventilations that the patient receives.

The Emergency Department previously replaced its two defibrillators with Zoll's R-Series units.
