The Student Senate at Chapleau Public School are a group of student leaders who strive for positive change in their school and community. Last week was Pink Shirt Day, a day to talk about kindness. Instead of just doing activities internally, they wanted to reach out to the community. They wanted to spread kindness all over Chapleau!

One of their initiatives was for each class (Kindergarten – Grade 12) to take a specific group in our community and do something special for them.

For Chapleau Health Services and the Bignucolo Residence, Mrs. Searle’s Grade 8 class has made Canvas art, and Mrs. McKnight’s high school art classes created framed art. For our residents, the elementary students from both Chapleau Public School, École Sacré Coeur and Our Lady of Fatima delivered Valentine’s Day cards and Tea trees to enjoy.

For Cedar Grove, the Kindergarten class wrote notes on a large card, and the Grade 9 French class made French cards for the residents.

We are so thankful to Chapleau Public School and their Student Senate as well as the students from Our Lady of Fatima for thinking of us and helping spread kindness throughout our community. Their artwork and letters will be prominently displayed in our hallways and will continue to bring joy to all those who visit and work at Chapleau Health Services!
