Q. How long have you been working for SSCHS?

A. For three years.

Q. What made you decide to get into this field of work?

A. I like to learn new things. I'm a very busy person and I enjoy being on the go. This job allowed me to work at a faster pace but also enjoy the work I do. I enjoy working with people and being around the residents.

Q. Can you describe what a typical day is like for you?

A. When working in long-term care I come in the morning and get my cart set up, I then start cleaning where there aren't any residents or staff, I then wait for residents to get out of bed and then I clean their rooms and toilet.

Q. Who do you interact with the most at work?

A. The residents - that's 99% of my day.

Q. How would your co-workers describe you?

A. That I'm fun, funny, smart, and I want to work.

Q. What's the best part about your job?

A. The residents. For our long-term care residents, this is their last home. I want to make them as happy as I can as much as I can. I wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for them. And now, I'm studying to become a Personal Support Worker (PSW) and I'll have even more interaction with them, that one on one that I enjoy. I also really like that I can interact with the residents who speak French.

Q. Why should someone consider a career with SSCHS?

A. Because you can always do more. Once you start in a department, you can explore your options even more. They give you the schooling. I have the opportunity to become a PSW because I work here. It's also a really nice environment and I like the people I work with.

Q. What are some of your interests outside of work?

A. Outdoors activities and spending time with my family - my husband and my dog.
