Volunteer With Us

Our volunteers provide essential services that benefit our patients, residents, staff, families, and the community at large.

SSCHS is often seeking volunteers for various programs such as Friendly Visiting, Congregate Dining, and the Bignucolo Residence Activation Department, among others.

We require all our volunteers to provide a police reference check, as well as complete an occupational health screening, a confidentiality agreement, and a volunteer code of ethics agreement.

Become a Volunteer Driver

The SSCHS Senior Transportation program is currently recruiting volunteer drivers.

Volunteer drivers use our program vehicles to provide Chapleau area seniors with out-of-town transportation so they can attend medical appointments.

Volunteer drivers are required to take a one-day training program on policies, procedures, and transportation legislation. Ongoing training may be periodically required. Drivers would need to be available to drive during the day time and some evenings and would be called on an as-needed basis.

Volunteer qualifications:

Valid Class G Ontario Driver's License with a minimum of three years driving experience;
Excellent driving record with less than four demerit points;
Training in Emergency First Aid or the willingness to receive it;
A clear criminal reference check;
Proof of up-to-date immunization and occupational health clearance.

Join our Patient Advisory Committee

Are you interested in sharing your patient experience to help others?

SSCHS is seeking community members who have recently been a patient, used our services, or whose loved one was or is cared for at SSCHS, to partner with us.

As an advisor, you will participate in discussion groups, review patient education materials, and work on short-term projects to help strengthen our patient experiences.
