Gisele Barlow at her desk

My name is Gisele Barlow, and I am a Registered Nurse with SSCHS. I’ve been working with the organization for 11 years now and for 10 of those I've been in Primary care.

Can you describe what a typical day is like for you?

During the Pandemic my main duty was the Covid Assessment Centre, but now I do a variety of care, my days mostly consist of prenatal appointments, wellbabies and immunizations and cardiovascular assessments, and care coordination.

Who do you interact with the most at work?

I work mostly with Patients/clients, as my position involves a lot of direct patient care.

How do you think your co-workers would describe you?

I think my co-workers would describe me as intense, hardworking, professional and a bit of a nerd!

What’s the best part about your job/working for SSCHS?

Working as part of an interprofessional team caring for a variety of patient conditions.

What made you decide to get into this field?

I just knew it was for me, it’s kind of hard to explain.

Tell me a little about yourself. Hobbies, interests, favorite places, etc.

My hobbies consist of constantly returning to school to upgrade (Currently doing my Masters of Nurse Practitioner) As you can imagine, I do not have time for interests and as for favorite places? Anywhere quiet at this point.
