Diane Card in her office

Q. How long have you been working for SSCHS?

A. It's going to be a year at the end of the month.

Q. What made you decide to get into this field of work?

A. I retired from driving a school bus for many years. My sister-in-law works at the front desk and recommended it as a good part-time job and it ended up being full time.

Q. Can you describe what a typical day is like for you?

A. It's very busy. It definitely keeps me going! Prepping and serving food, doing dishes, taking care of the seniors. It's a good busy day. I love serving meals.

Q. Who do you interact with the most at work?

A. The cooks and the seniors. I used to drive the seniors around in the transit bus so a lot of them already know me, which is so nice.

Q. How would your co-workers describe you?

A. Probably a little bit mouthy *laughs. I'm very verbal, I communicate a lot, but I'm a good worker.

Q. What's the best part about your job?

A. The best part is really just communicating with the seniors. They're good story tellers. It makes me feel good when I see a smile on their face and I'm responsible for making them feel that way. I see them five days a week.

Q. Why should someone consider a career with SSCHS?

A. Hopefully to help the seniors out. You interact with a lot of people, and it's a good honest job.

Q. What are some of your interests outside of work?

A. I like to take the dog for a walk, I knit, and I cook. I make all kind of meals for my husband.
