Employee Spotlight

Dany Raymond's face

My name is Dany Raymond and I am the Health Records Clerk and Project Assistant. I have been working at SSCHS since June 2021, and in my current position since February 2022.

Can you describe what a typical day is like for you?

Although my days are never the same, I usually start around 8:30, I come in, check my emails to see if there is anything urgent that I need to complete, then I usually make my way to the Nursing Station to pick up any in-patient charts of patients who have been discharged. I then come back to my desk and check if I have any voicemails, mail, other emails to action. I then would typically start working on my projects, of which is currently the new Meditech Expanse software, I am taking meeting minutes, assisting with sharing of important emails and communication, sharing any homework that needs to be completed to the specific team/member. I usually have around 1-2 meetings per day, but I do have days where my schedule is completely filled with meetings! After finishing up my project work, I would then switch over to the Health Records portion of my job which includes mostly scanning and filling of all patient records from the Emergency Department, and Medical Units. Once they are scanned, I then code them to be stored into our Electronic Medical Record storage for the circle of care to have access to. Once a month, I need to complete a whole lot of statistics, audits and reporting for the Health Records Department which takes me about 2 days to complete. I work a lot with the Health Records department at Timmins and District Hospital as they help with more the more complex side of the job that I am not qualified to do, which include visit coding for billing purposes and extensive medical data compiling, which is used by many teams here at the hospital. I also complete all Release of Information (ROI) that come in to the department, which means I need to print/copy medical records to give them to the patient or they're family doctor.

Who do you interact with the most at work?

I work with a lot of people within and outside the hospital to do my job, but I mostly work with Admissions, the nurses and physicians.

How do you think your co-workers would describe you?

I think they would describe as a happy, bubbly and funny co-worker, I hope so anyways haha!

What's the best part about your job/working for SSCHS?

The bond and the family feeling that we have.

What made you decide to get into this field?

I've always loved working in administration but also loved the medical field, so working as a health records clerk gives me the best of both worlds!
