Employee Spotlight

My name is Emlyn Parry, I am currently 17 years old. I have lived in Chapleau my whole life and I attend Chapleau High School. This upcoming school year I will be in grade 12 and will graduate high school next spring. I plan to pursue a career in dental hygiene, or paramedicine in the future. Some of my hobbies include reading, fishing, and being physically active. I am very interested in health, specifically in teeth and dental care and also paramedicine. This is my second summer working at SSCHS.

Can you describe what a typical day is like for you?

A typical day for me includes coming to work at 9:00 AM and completing the self-screen, after I complete that I come into the office space provided for me and I log into my email. After I log in, I receive emails from my fellow co-workers and supervisors which includes what I can help them with. Then I get to work on whatever it is they need to be completed.

What's the best part about your job/working for SSCHS?

Some of the best parts about my job is that I work throughout the weekdays and have the weekends off, and that I was able to create my own work schedule with my supervisor. Another great part about my job is being able to learn new skills on office equipment and apply those skills and knowledge at school and in my everyday life.

What is one part of your job that might surprise people?

One part of my job that may surprise people is that often times I have my very own office space to work in. I also spend a lot of my time creating/updating job postings for the organization, and contacting colleges and universities to post our job postings to their websites.

What made you decide to get into this field?

The reason I decided to get into this field was because I had an interest in the healthcare field and wanted to get a better idea of the different job opportunities in a hospital setting. Another reason I was interested in working at SSCHS was because I wanted to help the hospital out in any way that I could with the knowledge I had.
