Physiotherapy (PT)

Physiotherapy is an essential part of our lives and can help:

  • To assess and diagnose pain and medical conditions
  • To treat an injury or illness
  • To help manage chronic conditions
  • To prevent injury or re-injury

Physiotherapy services can be accessed with a referral from a specialist, Physician, or Nurse Practitioner. All referrals are placed on a priority based waiting list. Priority is given to post-operative joint replacements (hip, knee, and shoulder), strokes, fractures, acute orthopedic conditions referred by a specialist, and WSIB claims.

The physiotherapy assistant (PTA) is available Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. to perform the assigned physiotherapy interventions and relay any questions or concerns to the Physiotherapist.

For more information, please contact the Physiotherapy Department at (705) 864-1520 Ext 1086. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Preparing for Your Visit:

  • Please bring your written physician's referral and any reports related to the reason for your visit (if applicable);
  • Patients who have had surgery recently should take pain medication prior to their appointment;
  • You should wear comfortable clothing that allows the therapist to assess you properly. (i.e. short sleeve shirt if you are being seen for your wrist);
  • While your appointments with the therapist are covered by OHIP, please be aware that most medical devices are not covered by OHIP. Check with your extended health provider to see if they will cover these items.
